Celestine 175 Baby & Toddler Photo Contest

The Baby & Toddler Photo Contest will be held on Saturday, June 30th from 10am-6pm during the Celestine 175th celebration. We will be set up next to the kid zone. $1 per vote. Child with the most votes in each category will win the prize. We will announce the winners on the main stage around 6:15pm. Chairperson, Stacy Brosmer, will contact parent to hand out the prizes.

Sander Processing Tours

Be sure to plan to attend one of the two tours of Sander Processing on Saturday June 30th at 2 and 4pm. The local business is one of the landmarks of Celestine as people from hours away bring meat to be processed by Sander Processing. The event includes a tour of the facility, the history of Sander Processing, a look at the machinery used and discussion of modern technology used in current manufacturing. Celestine 175 June Newsletter

Celestine 175 Is One Month Away! Word of mouth is one of our best promotions, we should be inviting EVERYONE we know to come to the fest and celebrate with us. Now is the time to be talking about the fest!

Next 175th Meeting - The final Celestine 175 Meeting will be Thursday June 7 at 7pm in The Happy Hour Basement. This is the final meeting before our event.

175th Committee Photographs Before Thursday June 6th Meeting - All committee chairpersons and members are asked to arrive at The Happy Hour basement at 6pm before the 7pm monthly fest meeting. Please wear a 175th shirt and/or your vest and suspenders (which will be available for pickup at the meeting).
 

Brothers of the Brush - The final meeting is Wednesday June 6 at 7pm at the Celestine Park  with a cookout and games. Please attend if possible.

Vests & Suspenders - Orders are in and will be brought to the next Brothers of the Brush Meeting. To pick up prior to the meeting contact Joan Steffe 812-482-6051 There is a limited supply of suspenders for sale and orders are still being taken for vests. Suspenders are $12 and vests are $15 each.

Special Celestine 175th USPS Postmark Available - In Celebration of Celestine’s 175th anniversary, the Celestine Post Office will offer a special commemorative postmark.  Any customers that would like to have their mail postmarked will be able to do so by taking the mail into the Celestine Post Office during the days of June 26th through June 30th 2018. Normal window hours for the Celestine Post Office are Monday-Friday 8:00am-12:00pm and Saturday 9:00am-11:00am. Please note only mail taken inside the post office will get the postmark, not items put in the outside blue dropbox. The Celestine Post Office location is 365 N Celestine Rd S Celestine, IN 47521 and you may reach them by phone at 812-634-1829.  This postmark will be free to use to be stamped on any item and will help in promoting the celebration! This postmark contains the Celestine Church and Water Tower 175th logo and is available to stamp any item that will help in promoting the celebration. There will be a limited number of commemorative postcards and envelopes available at the 175th merchandise stand.

Parade Updates - Deadline June 14 - Night & Day Parade Registration Details - The Celestine 175 celebration will feature two separate parades. On Thursday June 28 a night parade will be presented at dark starting at the Celestine Park, moving past the Elementary School, around the west entrance of St. Celestine Church and back to the Park. A daytime parade will be held on Sunday, July 1 beginning at 1pm that will move throughout the Celestine community. Entries must be returned by June 14. Baby & Toddler Photo Contest - The Celestine Elementary PTO is offering a photo contest for babies and toddlers. The entry fee is $20, entries must be received by June 14.  Checks payable to Celestine Elementary PTO. To enter, mail a 5x7 photo with parents names, child's name, address, email address, and phone number written on back of photo to chairperson Stacy Brosmer - 988 N Robert Dr - Celestine IN 47521. The categories are: 0-12 months, 1-2 years, 3-4 years. Prizes will be awarded to the child with the most votes in each category. Photos will not be returned. Voting will take place at the Celestine 175th.

Quilt Raffle - There will be 18 quilts raffled off at the Celestine 175th. They were quilted locally and donated by the members of the community.  Nine quilts to be raffled off on Friday beginning at 6:30pm at the merchandise stand and nine quilts will be raffled off on Saturday beginning at beginning at 6:30pm. Chances will be sold for each of the nine rounds on the wheel . License #146092.  There will also be a special quilt that will have raffle tickets sold all weekend! Dunking Booth - Saturday from 1 to 8pm - Volunteers are needed to collect money and pick up balls. Ball shifts will be 30 minutes and a great opportunity for the youth to help at the fest! More volunteers are welcome to sit in the dunking booth.  If you are willing to help contact Ashley Meyer at 812-630-4342.

Celestine 175 Fireworks Show - Be sure to attend our do-not-miss fireworks show on Friday June 29th at 10pm! The fireworks will be directed by Hoosier Pyrotechs and will include 477 shells sized from 3 to 6 inches being set off by a computer controlled firing system. The show will culminate with a 72 shell grand finale! The fireworks are sponsored by Sander Catering and Schwartz Building Materials along with the 175th fest. Hoosier Pyrotech have been lighting up firework shows across Indiana since 2008 and have over 50 years of combined experience. You can learn more about their work at http://hoosierpyrotechs.com

Amateur Radio Club Broadcast from Celestine 175 - The Patoka Valley Amateur Radio Club (PVARC) will put Amateur Radio on display at the Celestine 175 Celebration. Mike Vogler, President of PVARC and several amateur radio club members will be operating several stations on Saturday June 30, from 1-7pm under the Uebelhor Toyota tent near the craft booths. This is what amateur radio calls Special Event stations and will operate with a special call sign W2C or Whiskey 2 Celestine. Special Event stations operate to commemorate special events all over the world with Celestine 175 being spread the world over on short wave radio. Bake Off - FREE to enter! No pre-registration! Adult Categories (age 15+) include Yeast Bread & Rolls, Cakes & Cupcakes, Cookies & Bars, and Pies. Kids’ Categories (ages 3-14) include Cakes & Cupcakes, Cookies & Bars. Entries must be made from scratch and include a short description (i.e. brownies with nuts). Judging will be based on appearance, flavor, and texture. All entries are to be turned in at the Celestine Elementary kitchen on Wednesday, June 27, between 5 and 8pm. Questions? Photographers Needed - The Celestine 175th is in need of volunteer photographers to document all events of our 175th and to deliver their pictures and video to our social media team. With so many events, we need several photographers! Celestine 175 Cash Raffle - We need your help selling tickets! Grand prize is $5,000 with another $5,000 available in 14 other smaller amounts. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for 5 tickets!. 5K Run/ Walk + Free Kids Fun Run - Sat., June 30. Registration begins at 7:15am in the Happy Hour basement with race beginning at 8am. Registration forms are available on the website and at the entrance of church. Kids run is free and will begin after the 5K race at 9am. Kids run sign ups will take place prior to the start.

Celestine Senior King & Queen Voting Underway - The winner will be selected by public voting for $1 a vote or 6 votes for $5.  Voting slips can be obtained at the entrances of St. Celestine Church, parish office, and Annette’s Hair Design by Annette Tuell.  Money must accompany submitted ballots.

Celestine 175 Car Cruise - Saturday, June 23, 2018. Celestine (Jaycee) Park: 90 N Celestine Rd S, Celestine, IN 47521. Register at the park at 1 PM EST, leave the park at 2PM EST, return to the park at approximately 6PM EST. Route features all paved roads. $10 per person. All cars, trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, and any other type of road legal vehicle welcome. We will be giving a ticket to each paying rider for a chance for prizes at the end of the cruise. Dodgeball Tourney - Start gathering your teams for the Celestine 175 Dodgeball Tourney! It will be held on Friday, June 29. First game begins at 7pm at the Celestine Elementary Tennis Courts. There will be 6 people per team with a $30 entry fee per team for the double elimination tourney. Team must include at least one player from the opposite sex. Cash prize awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams in each division, which are “12 and under” and “13 and up.” Deadline to enter is by 5:30pm on Friday, June 29. Celestine Elementary Tours - As part of the 175th Celebration, Celestine Elementary teachers and staff will be offering tours of the historic school on Friday June 29th and Saturday June 30 from 6:30 to 8 PM. This will be a great opportunity to revisit the school that so many youth have attended for over 75 years!
